Princes street is also a famous street in Edinburgh, the city where I now live. Anyone from Scotland and England find many New Zealand street and place names familiar.
The Auckland Museum is based in the Auckland Domain on the east side of the city. It is an especially interesting place to visit.
Blue Lake is situated in the Waiotapu Valley region. Tours across this lake can be organised in Rotorua.
Despite not being the most western or northern reaches of New Zealand, Cape Reinga is considered to be at the end of New Zealand. This area contains massive sand dunes and resides at the far end of 90 mile beach.
To the East of Auckland, across the Firth of Thames is the Coromandel Peninsula. Here, near Hahei, is Cathedral Cove and the massive stone arch that separates it from the next beach...
...And this is the beach at the other side of the arch...
This was taken in the Waiotapu valley region. This geyser does not blow at regular intervals so it is set off using soap powder to break the surface tension of the water.
The picture of this secluded bay was taken while cruising into the Marlborough Sounds on the Wellington to Picton ferry.
This picture was taken a short distance away from Picton, the main south island ferry terminal.
This picture was taken from outside the Juggler's Rest backpackers in Picton. The same hill is the focus of the previous picture.
The isolated River Valley is located about half-way between Taupo and Wellington. It is a regular stop for those travellers on the Kiwi Experience coach tour.
This picture is taken looking west to the distant mountain of Mt Taranaki near New Plymouth. This mountain was gifted to the people of New Zealand by the loal Maori chief.
These lakes are a refreshing splash of colour in an otherwise barren landscape. They look good enough to bathe in, however are sacred to the Maori people.
Although direct filming of this mountain was prohibited, this mountain was the basis of Mt Doom in Mordor, the home of Lord Sauron in The Lord Of Rings.
This mountain is the most recent peak in the Tongariro National Park to have erupted. I particularly like the cloud formation on the right of the photo.
The three main volcanoes (Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro) of the Tongariro National Park are visible in the photo. Technically Ngauruhoe is just a vent for the main Tongariro volcano.
A different side to the Tongariro National Park. A short walk around the west side of the park takes you via this waterfall. It is well worth making the effort to see this.
